Art Therapy is for everyone

Art therapy sessions are offered to adolescents and adults. Various non-verbal and verbal communications are integrated into the sessions to help clients to explore challenges in the purpose of improve mental and emotional well-being. You use what you have at home and you do need to have any artistic skills to benefit from art therapy.

Art therapy is beneficial for a wide variety of individuals, including people dealing with mental health issues, such as depression or panic attacks, as well as people who are recovering from traumatic experiences or substance abuse. Art therapy also helps people with developmental disabilities, autism and learning disabilities. Moreover, art therapy is used in hospitals to help patients with serious medical conditions like cancer or chronic illness.

During art therapy sessions, you will have the opportunity to:

WAHT TO EXPECT IN A SESSION ?

An art therapy session lasts 60 minutes and may follow certain routines

Beginning of the session

Take your time to share what has been on your mind. However, it is not necessary if you can’t think of things to share or don’t want to.

Creating time

Using provided art materials or what you have at home to create an artwork about your feelings and thoughts. In some sessions, art therapist may give you specific directives to follow in order to help you to connect with the issues you want to work on.

Processing

Talk about your feelings and experience of making art. Questions such as: Do you like art materials? What do you see in your artwork? What would you name it?

Each session is designed to support your emotional well-being and personal growth through creative expression.
